Desta vez a máscara caiu (pun intended com o nº 1) e revelou o que já suspeitava: se da primeira vez 50 % era descartável, desta vez pouco se aproveita. Não é que eu não compreenda o dilema comercial: se a colecção tivesse títulos realmente importantes ninguém lhe pegava. É o capitalismo a (des)funcionar.

I know that I promissed something different, but I just have to advertise this first.

On March 17 I wrote on this blog:

I would love to see a book full of these [Jochen Gerz's Foto/Text pieces]. Unfortunately, as most of my dream books, this  one will never happen.

Fortunately I was dead wrong, as you may see above.

The fact is that I plainly forgot that Jochen Gers is a contemporary artist, not a comics artist. In comics the best writers and artists are not recognized as such, consequently their books are ignored and no publisher dares to reprint their work. This is as if Superhero films were widely available while Roberto Rossellini's films or Kenji Mizoguchi's films or Ingmar Bergman's films could be found nowhere.

Anyway, there it is, one of my dream books, plain and simple!

Since it's been a while since my last post I hope to write something about Robert Kanigher and Alex Toth soon.
